(un)leaving Los Valles

“(un)leaving Los Valles” is a surrealistic and expressionistic short film shot in black and white, set in the local railroad station of Los Valles, Valencia. The film follows a woman whose movements are sharp, angular, reminiscent of Martha Graham’s.

The story revolves around the woman’s desperate attempt to leave Los Valles, symbolizing her desire to escape from something that remains undisclosed. Every time she approaches a departing train, it passes by without stopping, leaving her stranded on the platform. As she tries to board the train, she becomes trapped in a disorienting loop, finding herself repeatedly back at the station. She is caught in a paradoxical cycle, unable to break free from the confines of the station or the haunting repetition of her actions.

In a moment of resignation, the woman finally accepts her fate. She gazes at the Los Valles sign with a mixture of horror and defeat, realizing that she is trapped in a liminal space between departure and arrival, between leaving and staying.
